Frank Weigand, President
Frank received his BSME degree from
Notre Dame and his MSME degree from Purdue, both with highest
honors. He spent 11 years at Honeywell, developing high-speed
ground transportation systems and turbine power systems for
air vehicles, which resulted in five patents. He was promoted
to Project Manager and was responsible for a group of 20 engineers.
He then joined Walt Disney Imagineering in 1986 as Principal
Engineer, and was later promoted to Manager of Mechanical
Engineering. In that capacity, he had administrative and technical
responsibility for up to 93 engineers and designers who were
developing rides and shows for Disney parks worldwide, as
well as performing internal R&D on wheels and other elements.
Frank left Disney in 1994 to become Vice President of Engineering
for Kenetech, the world's largest utility-scale wind turbine
manufacturer. Since 1996, he has had his own consulting firm,
specializing in design and development of entertainment systems.
He holds two patents for ride systems.
Kevin Parent, Vice President
Kevin received his BS in Physics from
MIT and began working for Walt Disney Imagineering as a System
Engineer in 1987. Some of his key contributions included development
of new ride control algorithms that were successfully implemented
in Disneyland Paris, improvement of motor and Station Area
control for several attractions, and leading the technical
development of the safety-critical control systems and motion
profiles for the vehicles and elevators on the Twilight Zone
Tower of Terror. Kevin then joined Spectra F/X and became
Associate Vice Prfesident of Engineering, where he developed
control systems and performed extensive modeling and simulation
efforts for Universal Studios attractions including the free-flying
Water World Sea Plane, several roller coasters, and Terminator
2-3D, as well as a number of Las Vegas shows. Kevin then co-founded
Things & Ideas, Inc., a firm specializing in design and
analysis of theme park attractions. Projects to date have
included the GM Test Track, Journey to the Center of the Earth,
and several attractions for Walt Disney World, Disneyland,
Disney's California Adventure, Tokyo Disneyland, and Tokyo
DisneySeas, as well as various rides for Universal's Islands
of Adventure.
Aiden Bradley, Chief Technical Officer
Aidan received his H.n.d. degree in
Mechanical Engineering in England and began designing guidance
control systems for aerospace applications. He was hired by
Britannia Row Productions in 1980 to do stage design, effects
design, rigging design, safety engineering, production management
and atmospheric effects for numerous touring and stage acts.
In 1987, he became Vice President of Engineering for Show
Motion Design, and was responsible for the engineering of
the Mayan Temple set and stunt equipment for Disney's Indiana
Jones Stunt Show. In 1989, Aidan founded Spectra F/X Europe
to provide design support for Disneyland Paris. He then returned
to the US as Director of Advanced Engineering for Spectra
F/X, designing and developing numerous rides and shows for
Disney and Universal Studios. Much of this work involved development
of high-performance wheels for attractions. In 1997, Aidan
co-founded Things & Ideas. He has been retained by Disney
and Universal Studios to help solve some of their most difficult
technical challenges.
Brad Borgman, Director of Project
Engineering
Brad received his BSAE from Michigan
State University, and continued his studies toward an MSEE
from MSU and Cal Poly, Pomona. He spent 8 years at Sunkist
Growers, being promoted to Chief Engineer of R&D after
receiving patents for robotic packaging and developing optical
sorting equipment. He joined Walt Disney Imagineering in 1988
to work on the Euro Disney project as a Ride Systems Engineer,
coordinating stateside ride equipment for installation in
Paris. He is best known for the Indiana Jones Ride at Disneyland,
where he was the Ride Project Engineer. In 1994 he started
his own consulting business for the themepark industry. His
clients include Universal Hollywood, Universal Islands of
Adventure, Universal Florida, Universal Japan, Warner Brothers,
Sony Development, and various ride system manufacturers.
